Guigal is one of the most respected wineries in France and is best known for its majestic single-acre wines from Cote Rotie, which are considered among the best and most sought-after wines in the world. But Guigal doesn't just produce expensive super-wines; it also makes some of the best Côtes du Rhône available. Grenache and Syrah make up roughly half of the blend, with a tiny "splash" of Mourvédre. On the nose, dark, spicy fruit, forest berries, plums, rhubarb, and sweet cherries. Well-structured, firm tannins, acidity combined with spicy fruit, vanilla-rich oak, and fresh herbs. This is a perfect wine for lamb, whether from the oven or grilled, preferably with herbs such as rosemary, oregano, and sage. Unlike most other Côtes de Rhône wines, the main component of this red wine comes from the northern part of the Rhône, from vineyards adjacent to the region's most famous plots.
