The wine shows itself bold and full-bodied with an intense dark plum-red color. Coppiere evokes a southern Italian luxury bouquet from the glass with plenty of juicy cherries, plums, sun-ripened blackberries, and some raisins, further enhanced by vanilla, licorice, coffee, and chocolate from the barrel. The wine lands in the mouth with impressive power and a buttery fruit sweetness enveloped by subtle spices and mild tannins. This is a southern Italian red wine as tasty and pleasant as it gets. Drink now, or store for 4-5 years from the vintage year.
Recommended for comfort food, grilled food, beef, lamb, hearty pasta dishes, and cooked cheeses. Enjoy the wine at 15-18°C
The wine is made from two popular southern Italian grape varieties, Primitivo and Susumaniello. The grapes are hand-picked from fields in Salento, one of Puglia's most important appellations. When the grapes arrive at the winery, they are gently pressed, after which fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks at 16-18 degrees. Part of the wine matures in steel tanks, while another part matures in large oak barrels. The final wine is then blended and rests for 3 months in the bottle before being released.
