When poured, the Xavier Côtes du Rhône 2020 sparkles a bold and dark cherry red in the glass... The nose promises an exemplary Rhône wine with fresh, sun-ripened and particularly well-developed aromas of violets, wild blackberries, juicy wild strawberries, black cherries and ripe plums, which after a few swirls give way to piquant Provençal herbs, English liquorice, plenty of ground black pepper as well as forest floor and sweet spices... The red wine almost floats smoothly over the tongue, where the elegant spiciness and minerality of the red wine is topped with a bucketload of sun-ripened and friendly charming fruits. The taste is impressive and nuanced given the price. Velvety tannins and delicate spices complete a wonderful Rhône experience. It can't be done better!
